Disciplined Execution Slideshow
BizBatt conducts the opening presentation (45 minutes)for pharmaceutical Account Managers....MISSION COMMANDERS and the importance of Leadership and Execution in their work.
Some of the slides will speak for themselves, others will not- the goal was to get them to think like mission commanders, where the goal is DISCIPLINED EXECUTION.
The metaphor was well-received.
Please drop comments or shoot me an email at boom@businessbattlefield.com . Please feel free to call me 610.704.1232.

YO-YO
YO-YO:
Not talking about the toy. We are talking about the airborne radio call and its effect on mission accomplishment in the fighter-pilot world.
Fighter pilots run in packs. This is true everywhere (socially at the bar, as well as tactically in the air) that there are pilots. We do this to ensure MUTUAL SUPPORT or interdependence. We are less effective (maybe even INeffective!) as a "single-ship" so we orient just about every activity around team-play and accomplishment. Again, this applies in the air, but it also applies on the ground in most environments.
When one pilot breaks out as a "singleton" and pursues his objective without back-up it usually hurts the overall team effort. The radio call for this is short and curt: "Boom, YO-YO," as in "Boom, YOU are ON YOUR OWN". This is usually not a good situation and is one that makes for uncomfortable (but necessary) discussion in the post-mission debrief.
"Lucy, you've got some 'splainin to do!"
Fighter pilots avoid YO-YO situations for practical/safety/mission-success reasons. My question to you is:
HOW DO YOU AVOID THE YO-YO SITUATION? or
IS YO-YO OKAY?
thanks, check six and as always, connect if you wish,
Boom Daniel
